Researchers are studying fasting hypoglycemia, a condition where blood sugar levels become abnormally low, caused by various factors including insulinomas and other pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. This research aims to improve understanding of the causes and diagnosis of hypoglycemia, identify new biomarkers for insulinomas, and build a repository of clinical data and samples to support future studies. The study focuses on patients with documented low fasting blood glucose and biochemical evidence related to insulinomas. Participants will be admitted to the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health for evaluation and treatment based on standard care practices for their specific condition. During the study, patients will undergo tests including blood sugar monitoring and blood tests for insulin and other diagnostic markers. They will be required to fast for a set period before testing to accurately assess their blood glucose and insulin levels. Medical and surgical care will be provided as needed under close supervision. Throughout the study, patients will have treatment outcomes monitored every 1 to 3 months to evaluate their condition and response to therapy. The research team will collect clinical data and samples to better understand hypoglycemia caused by insulinomas. The duration of participation will vary according to individual treatment needs and monitoring schedules, with ongoing assessments to ensure patient safety and study goals are met.
