Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • Fluid resuscitated septic shock \< 24 h.

Exclusion

  • Septic shock \> 24 h.
  • Pathology in the rectum.
  • Bleeding per rectum.
  • Limitation of therapy.
  • Where informed consent from relatives cannot be obtained.
