- DISEASE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Diagnosis of hematologic malignancy
- Referred or scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy
- PATIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
- Must understand written and spoken English
- PRIOR CONCURRENT THERAPY:
- Prior bone marrow biopsies allowed
