  • DISEASE CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Histologically confirmed adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus or rectum
  • Planning to receive neoadjuvant treatment, including radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy
  • PATIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Not pregnant or nursing
  • No blood disorder
  • Not deprived of freedom or protected by law
  • PRIOR CONCURRENT THERAPY:
