Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion
- all consecutive patients over the age of 18 with a chronic anal fissure presenting to our surgical outpatient clinic
Exclusion
- pregnancy
- previous anal surgery
- Crohn's disease
- systemic causes of an anal fissure
