Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • Patients on mechanical ventilation with evidence of pleural effusions on plain CXR confirmed to be large on bedside ultrasound in whom the attending clinician felt drainage would be beneficial

Exclusion

  • Coagulopathy
