Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion
- age greater than 18 years
- presence of an endotracheal tube to provide mechanical ventilation
- expected duration of mechanical ventilation greater than 48 hours.
Exclusion
- age \< 18 years, pregnancy
- presence of active bronchial bleeding
