Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • Provide written informed consent
  • Elective cardiac or aortic surgery
  • One or more blood transfusions scheduled for clinical reasons
  • Presence of an arterial catheter and pulmonary arterial catheter

Exclusion

  • Emergent cardiac surgery.
  • Patients requiring irradiated or washed blood transfusions.
