Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • acute ischemic stroke within 24 hours after symptom onset
  • first ever stroke
  • give informed consent

Exclusion

  • receiving thrombolysis
  • cardiogenic embolism
  • contradiction to serial MRI studies
  • taking hemostatic agents (warfarin, oral anticoagulants and etc. )
