Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • Elective indication for leg amputation
  • Peripheral arterial disease
  • Age \> 18 years
  • Written informed consent

Exclusion

  • Patient is incapable of informed consent
  • Pregancy and lactation
  • Previous surgical or endovenous treatment of the greater saphenous vein in the amputed leg
  • Great saphenous vein is used for bypass surgery
  • INR \> 1.8
  • ASA 5
