Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • age greater than or equal to 18
  • patients requiring deltopectoral approach and opening of joint capsule for primary shoulder surgery

Exclusion

  • allergy to cefazolin or cephalosporins
  • tattoos over operative site
  • previous surgical site infections in either shoulder
  • revision surgical procedure
  • immunocompromised patients
