Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • Abdominoperineal resection and permanent colostoma

Exclusion

  • Patient with a comorbid illness of condition that would preclude the use of surgery (ASA5)
  • Potentially curable resection not possible
  • Patient undergoing emergency procedure
  • Metastatic disease
  • Pregnant or suspected pregnancy
