Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion

  • patients undergoing colorectal surgery or small bowel surgery
  • elective or in emergency
  • open surgery or laparoscopy
  • diagnosis of POI
  • indication of fasting or nasogastric tube placement

Exclusion

  • contra-indication of chewing
  • pregnancy
