Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion
- symptomatic carotid stenosis (\> 50%)
- unilateral asymptomatic carotid stenosis (\> 60%)
- bilateral asymptomatic carotid stenosis (\> 60%)
Exclusion
- carotid restenosis
- "major surgery" in previous 6 months
- previous brain trauma or surgery
- malignant disease
- epilepsy
- carotid artery aneurysm
