What this Trial Is About
Accurate measurement of skin pigmentation is important in dermatology to diagnose and treat various skin conditions properly. Traditional methods like visual inspection or using the Fitzpatrick skin type can be subjective, biased, and often focus on lighter skin tones, which may lead to misdiagnosis or inappropriate care for people with darker skin. This research aims to find better, more objective ways to measure skin color using modern non-invasive imaging technologies. Researchers will use tools such as colorimetry and multispectral imaging to assess skin pigmentation more precisely. The study includes two groups: healthy adults and adults with skin diseases. They will measure the melanin index, which shows the amount of pigment in the skin, and compare these values across different body areas and various skin tones and conditions. Participants will be assessed for skin pigmentation using these advanced imaging techniques. The study will measure the melanin index at the start to understand variations in skin color. This information may help improve diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases for people of all skin types. The study requires participants to be at least 18 years old and able to understand Dutch or English.
