Study of Anterior Chamber Deflation and Air Injection to Treat Detached Descemets Membrane After Cataract Surgery in Adults Aged 50 to 70

Researchers are evaluating a newer technique to manage a complication called Descemets Membrane Detachment that can occur after cataract surgery. This study aims to measure how effective this method is in improving the condition by comparing two different approaches. The trial is interventional and sponsored by Minia University, focusing on patients aged 50 to 70 years who develop this complication within the first week after their surgery. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group receives a direct injection of air inside the eyes anterior chamber, while the other group undergoes a procedure called anterior chamber deflation before receiving the air injection. This comparison is designed to see which method better helps the membrane reattach. During the study, researchers will monitor participants over a period of one week to assess the rate of complete anatomical reduction of the membrane detachment using imaging techniques. They will also track the time it takes for the membrane to fully reattach over one month. Participants will undergo eye examinations and imaging to measure outcomes and ensure safety throughout the trial, which is expected to complete by February 2026.
