Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- BMI between 18.5 and 40
- Kidney failure with GFR between 30 and 60 mL/min/1.73m2
- Stable medication for at least 4 weeks
You will not qualify if you...
- Received cytotoxic therapy for primary or secondary kidney disease within 6 months prior to enrollment
- History of organ transplant
- Class IV congestive heart failure (New York Heart Association)
- Myocardial infarction, unstable angina, stroke, or transient ischemic attack within 12 weeks prior to enrollment
- Coronary revascularization or valve repair/replacement within 12 weeks before enrollment or scheduled within 4 weeks after enrollment
- Any condition outside kidney and heart disease, such as malignancy, with life expectancy less than 2 years
- Active malignancy requiring treatment at Visit 1 (except successfully treated basal or squamous cell carcinoma)
- Liver impairment with specific elevated enzyme levels at enrollment
- Pregnancy or lactation
- Following ketogenic diet, consuming ketogenic products or supplements, intermittent fasting, or other diets/supplements increasing ketones in past 2 months
- Daily alcohol consumption over 2 servings per day
- Participation in other interventional research or PET research projects exceeding recommended limits
- Inability to lie still in supine position
- Medical fluid restriction limiting fluid intake for the procedure
