What this Trial Is About

This research aims to adapt an existing counseling program originally designed for combustible tobacco smokers to help emerging adults aged 18 to 30 stop using electronic nicotine products like e-cigarettes. The study focuses on understanding factors related to e-cigarette use, barriers to quitting, and ways to support cessation among young adults. It addresses a crucial gap by tailoring an intervention specifically for vaping cessation in this vulnerable group. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive the adapted counseling intervention either by video telehealth or telephone. The intervention is behavioral and specifically designed to support vaping cessation. The study compares these counseling methods to a self-help guide, with the goal of evaluating their usability, acceptability, and impact on quitting nicotine. During the 8-week treatment period and 30 days afterward, participants will be assessed on how often and how much they use e-cigarettes, and their satisfaction with the counseling program using the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire. Researchers will monitor progress through these measures to understand the intervention's effects. The total study period includes these follow-up assessments to capture changes over time.
