Adjuvant Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy After Trans-arterial Chemoembolization in Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma confirmed by histology or imaging
- Age between 18 and 80 years
- Having 1 to 3 liver lesions
- Total size of lesions at least 4 cm
- Sufficient non-tumorous liver volume of at least 800 cm3
- Child Pugh Score of A5-6 or B7-8
- BCLC stage A or B
- Patient is not eligible for or refuses surgical resection or liver transplant
- Blood tests within 2 weeks before registration showing:
- Absolute neutrophil count of at least 1,500 cells/mm³
- Platelets count of at least 50,000 cells/mm³
- AST and ALT less than 5 times the upper limit of normal
- Serum creatinine within normal limits or creatinine clearance at least 50 mL/min
You will not qualify if you...
- Presence of cancer spread outside the liver including lymph nodes or distant metastases
- Evidence of macroscopic vascular invasion
- Presence of arterio-portal or arterio-venous fistulas
- History of previous cancers
- Prior treatment with selective internal radiation therapy
- Use of Sorafenib in the last 8 weeks
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
