Researchers at National Taiwan University Hospital are collecting detailed data on adult patients who have been critically ill and admitted to intensive care units ICUs. This effort is part of a larger international collaboration to build a comprehensive database that includes information from multiple ICUs. The purpose is to evaluate care quality, resource use, and clinical outcomes to improve treatment strategies and support research and education in data science. The database includes retrospective data starting from March 1, 2019, and will continue to collect data prospectively until patients discharged before June 30, 2043. It gathers a wide range of information such as hourly vital signs, laboratory results, diagnoses at admission and discharge, and clinical outcomes extending beyond 30 days after ICU admission. This includes monitoring the length of ICU stays and mortality within 30 days. Participants involved are critically ill adults aged 20 or older who have been admitted to ICUs. Data collection covers their entire ICU stay and the period following discharge. Researchers will analyze this information to measure outcomes like 30-day mortality and ICU stay length. This ongoing data gathering aims to support quality improvement and research in critical care over many years.
