Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Male or non-pregnant female aged 18 to 65 years in one of these groups: 18-25 years (+/- 1 year), 35-45 years (+/- 1 year), or 55-65 years (+/- 1 year)
  • Report weekly to monthly cannabis use primarily via inhalation over the past 6 months before screening
  • Not currently seeking treatment for cannabis use
  • No clinically significant adverse effects from cannabis use
  • Body Mass Index between 18.5 and 34 kg/m2
  • Able to complete all study procedures
  • Females of childbearing potential must be using an effective form of birth control
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Meet DSM-5 criteria for any substance use disorder other than nicotine or mild cannabis use disorder
  • Use other illicit drugs within the past 4 weeks
  • Have severe psychiatric illness or medical conditions (e.g., mood disorders with impairment, schizophrenia, hypertension) that increase risk or interfere with participation
  • Predominant current use of medical cannabis
  • Use prescription or regular over-the-counter medications except hormonal contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy
  • Use herbal supplements that may affect study outcomes or interact with study drugs (e.g., St Johns wort, kava, L-tryptophan, melatonin)
  • Abnormal medical or psychiatric screening results increasing risk
  • Current pain
  • Pregnancy
  • History of allergic or adverse reaction to cannabis
  • Enrolled in another research study
  • Not using hormonal or barrier contraceptive methods
  • Any disorder making cannabis use hazardous
  • Intolerance to lactose or sesame (in oral THC)
  • Insensitivity to the Cold Pressor Test
