What this Trial Is About
The GLIOMAID project focuses on improving diagnosis and management of brain tumors called gliomas using Artificial Intelligence AI. Gliomas, especially high-grade types, are common and challenging brain tumors with poor survival rates, often requiring invasive biopsies. This study aims to create AI tools that analyze MRI scans and patient data to help doctors detect tumors earlier, understand their severity, and plan better treatments without invasive procedures. The study collects existing clinical and MRI data from about 700 adult glioma patients aged 18 to 60, treated between 2019 and 2024 at seven neurosurgery centers in Italy. It uses AI algorithms to analyze these retrospective records to develop models for early tumor detection, automated tumor mapping on MRI images, and non-invasive tumor characterization. No new treatments or interventions are given during the study. Participants data includes pre- and post-operative MRI scans and clinical information such as diagnosis, treatment history, and outcomes. All data is anonymized and securely stored. Researchers evaluate the accuracy of AI models in detecting and classifying gliomas compared to expert reviews and histological diagnoses. The study aims to support faster, more accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment planning while reducing the need for invasive biopsies.
