What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating if an artificial intelligence (AI)-based noise reduction feature in Phonak hearing aids can improve hearing and speech perception for people with hearing loss. The study focuses on patients with hearing impairment, including those with cochlear implants on one side using a hearing aid on the opposite ear. The goal is to find out whether this AI technology offers measurable benefits in different listening environments. Participants with hearing loss will receive the Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio hearing aid equipped with DEEPSONIC™ Deep Sound Optimized Neural Integrated Chip, which uses deep neural networks to reduce background noise. Speech will be played at a comfortable volume in quiet, moderate noise, and high noise settings. The study will compare speech perception scores using different hearing aid program settings: quiet, moderate noise, and advanced AI-based noise reduction for high noise. During the study, participants will undergo single-word and sentence testing at baseline to assess their speech perception. Tests will be conducted in various noise environments to evaluate how well the AI noise reduction improves hearing. The study will monitor participants' hearing performance with and without the AI noise reduction feature. The total participation duration and follow-up details are not specified.
