The study will be performed at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Arthur M. Blank Hospital. Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Established diagnosis of COVID-19 requiring hospital admission for treatment
  • Age between 3 years and 21 years
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Severe liver dysfunction: ALT more than 6 times the upper limit of normal
  • Kidney dysfunction: Creatinine more than 1.5 times upper limit of normal or on dialysis
  • Acute stroke
  • Pregnancy
  • Allergy to arginine
  • Past history of severe cardiac disease or major cardiac surgery (minor procedures like VSD repair allowed)
  • History of significant pulmonary disease (including cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease)
  • History of organ transplant
  • History of metabolic or mitochondrial diseases (including diabetes)
  • History of severe neurocognitive delays (severe cerebral palsy, anoxic brain injury)
  • History of ventriculoperitoneal shunt or hydrocephalus
  • Investigator's discretion deeming patient unsuitable
  • History of HIV or immune compromise
