Researchers are studying the genetic causes of Hodgkins disease, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemia, and related blood cancers. The study focuses on families where one or more members have these lymphoproliferative disorders or related cancers, aiming to better understand inherited risks. This observational study is led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and looks to gather genetic information to aid research on these conditions. Participants include individuals with personal or family histories of lymphoma or related diseases. The study collects DNA samples and frozen lymphocytes to support genetic laboratory investigations. The goal is to build a collection that facilitates research into familial lymphoid cancers and to identify new genes that may predispose families to these diseases. The study includes patients and family members, including children, and involves broad eligibility criteria to encompass various types of lymphoproliferative diseases. During the study, participants provide biological samples for DNA storage and genetic analysis. Researchers verify diagnoses through medical records and family history questionnaires. The primary outcome is establishing a DNA and cell repository over 2 years, with secondary goals to perform genetic linkage and candidate gene studies. Participants may be followed for about 2 years, with no treatments involved. The study involves minimal risk and includes assessments of family history and genetic predisposition to lymphoid cancers.
