Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Verified metabolic syndrome according to NCEP-ATP III criteria
- Ability to complete all study procedures including fasting blood draw, breath test, stool antigen test, endoscopy with biopsy, and body measurements
You will not qualify if you...
- Current therapy that influences metabolism
- Acute or chronic infection or autoimmune disease flare
- Participation in an interventional study within the last 3 months
- Planned surgery or long-term hospitalization during the study
- Active cancer
- Severe liver or kidney failure
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- History of gastric resection or upper gastrointestinal reconstruction
- Diagnosis of type 1 diabetes
