Comparing Absorption of Two Coenzyme Q10 Supplements in Healthy Adults Aged 21 to 65

Researchers are evaluating the relative bioavailability of coenzyme Q10 CoQ10 from two different CoQ10 products in healthy men and women aged 21 to 65. The study compares a CoQ10 product designed for enhanced absorption with a standard CoQ10 product. This research aims to understand how each product is absorbed and processed by the body over time. Participants will receive two 50 mg capsules of either the high absorption CoQ10 product or the standard CoQ10 product, each providing a total of 100 mg. The study uses a randomized, double-blind crossover design where each participant takes both products on separate occasions, with 7 to 14 days between conditions. At the start of each test visit, participants consume the study product with water and a standardized breakfast, followed by blood sample collection over 10 hours. Standardized lunch, dinner, and snacks are provided during the test visits, and a blood draw is done the next morning 24 hours after ingestion. Participants will visit the clinic five times one screening visit and four test visits spread over two testing periods. During each test period, blood samples are collected to measure CoQ10 levels at various time points. Researchers will assess measures such as the incremental area under the curve iAUC, maximum concentration Cmax, and time to maximum concentration Tmax to evaluate the absorption of each product. The total study duration per participant is approximately 2 to 4 weeks, including the screening and test visits.
