What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying children born prematurely to understand their attachment relationships at ages 3 and 5, focusing on how these attachments relate to their brain development and behavior. The study explores how prematurity may affect interactions between children and their caregivers, potentially influencing secure or insecure attachment patterns. It also examines how maternal behaviors and child development complications might be connected to attachment types in preterm children.
The study collects information through questionnaires and interviews completed by mothers, premature children, and teachers. These tools assess attachment, maternal stress, and child behavior at ages 3 and 5. Data include the Attachment Story Completion Task, Attachment Multiple Model Interview, Parenting Stress Index, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Questionnaire, Ages and Stages Questionnaires, Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, and Global School Adaptation Score.
Participants will engage in two separate interviews at ages 3 and 5, providing responses alongside their mothers and teachers. Researchers will evaluate attachment representations, stress levels, behavioral issues, and developmental progress using various questionnaires. The study is observational, with no treatment administered, and participants are monitored over time to understand attachment and developmental outcomes following premature birth.
