Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age over 18 years and able to give informed consent
  • Diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT)
  • Planned exploratory parathyroidectomy (PTX) with intraoperative parathyroid hormone measurement
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Concordant high-confidence imaging indicating planned focused or selective PTX
  • Previous thyroid or parathyroid surgery
  • Planned simultaneous thyroid surgery
  • Diagnosis of MEN or lithium-induced hyperparathyroidism
  • Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) less than 30
  • History of kidney transplant
