Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- For disease group: Diagnosed with schizophrenia (ICD-10 F20 codes) with a stable condition and no medication changes or psychiatric acute care admission in the past 3 months
- Aged between 18 and 65 years
- Able to understand, speak, read, and write Mandarin or Taiwanese
- For control group: No history of chronic illness and no acute symptoms in the past month
- Aged between 18 and 65 years
- Able to understand, speak, read, and write Mandarin or Taiwanese
You will not qualify if you...
- For disease group: Having cardiovascular conditions, severe neurological disorders (organic brain disorders, early-stage dementia or diagnosed dementia), or substance abuse issues
- Used medications affecting the autonomic nervous system in the past month (mood stabilizers, antidepressants, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, or antiarrhythmics)
- Having metallic implants affecting heart rate variability
- Having involuntary and uncontrollable body tremors
- Women currently menstruating
- Pregnant women
- For control group: Having cardiovascular conditions, severe neurological disorders (organic brain disorders, early-stage dementia or diagnosed dementia), or substance abuse issues
- Used medications affecting the autonomic nervous system in the past month (psychiatric medications, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, or antiarrhythmics)
- Having metallic implants affecting heart rate variability
- Having involuntary and uncontrollable body tremors
- Women currently menstruating
- Pregnant women
