BEYOND Study Enhancing HIV Treatment and Well-Being Among Young Men Who Have Sex With Men Living With HIV in Vietnam

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying HIV treatment outcomes and overall well-being among young men who have sex with men YMSM living with HIV in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This study focuses on challenges such as differences in care engagement, medication adherence, and viral control, which are influenced by personal, social, and structural issues including stigma and limited access to tailored care. The goal is to learn how these factors affect health and treatment success in this population. The study will follow 300 YMSM living with HIV who are receiving antiretroviral therapy at four different types of clinics public, private, and community-based. Participants will be observed over 12 months, with assessments at the start, 6 months, and 12 months. Researchers will also conduct in-depth interviews with 20 to 30 participants to explore their experiences with HIV care and identify barriers and supports to treatment engagement. The study will evaluate how person-centered care and integrated service models work across these healthcare settings. Participants will take part in regular evaluations including viral load testing to measure viral suppression, assessments of medication adherence, mental health screenings, and quality of life questionnaires. Researchers will monitor depression, anxiety, and social support using standardized scales throughout the study period. The findings aim to inform better strategies for HIV care that are tailored and supportive for young men living with HIV in Vietnam and similar contexts.
