Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Pregnant women aged 16 years or older with a viable pregnancy
  • Women attending for elective cesarean section
  • Women admitted for induction of labour and expected to stay in hospital for more than 24 hours
  • Women with maternal conditions that may affect body fluid, including pre-eclampsia requiring hospital admission
  • Women with hyperemesis gravidarum requiring hospital admission
  • Women with major postpartum haemorrhage (equal or greater than 1000 ml following delivery)
  • Gestational age matched control participants

You will not qualify if you...

  • Maternal age less than 16 years at booking
  • Women unable to give informed consent
  • Women with learning disabilities or difficulties
  • Women unable to speak or read English to an appropriate level
  • Prisoners
  • Women considered to belong to a vulnerable group
  • Women who require pacemakers or defibrillators
