Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Pregnant women aged 16 or over with a viable pregnancy
- Group I: Women attending for elective cesarean section
- Group II: Women admitted for induction of labour expected to stay in hospital more than 24 hours
- Group III: Women with maternal conditions impacting body fluid including pre-eclampsia requiring hospital admission, hyperemesis gravidarum requiring hospital admission, or major postpartum haemorrhage (1000 ml or more)
- Group IV: Gestational age matched control women
You will not qualify if you...
- Maternal age less than 16 years at booking
- Unable to give consent
- Women with learning disabilities or difficulties
- Unable to speak or read English adequately
- Prisoners
- Women deemed to belong to a vulnerable group
- Women who require a pacemaker or defibrillator
