Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patient with a clinical diagnosis of possible, probable, or definite ALS according to modified El Escorial criteria, suspected ALS by original criteria, or similar neurodegenerative disorder
- Willing to provide consent or assent if unable due to disease-related muscle weakness
- Spouse or domestic partner of patients with ALS, ALS-FTD, or similar disorder with no personal history of these diseases
- Subject with family history of ALS, ALS-FTD, or similar disease with affected family member being a first, second, or third degree blood relative
- Willing to provide consent
You will not qualify if you...
- History of medical disorders that could explain neurological signs unrelated to neurodegenerative disease
- Limited mental capacity preventing compliance with lumbar puncture or blood draw procedures
- Increased risk of bleeding or allergy to anesthetic or antiseptic used for lumbar puncture
- For spouses, partners, or family subjects: limited mental capacity preventing compliance or increased risk/allergy to lumbar puncture procedures
