Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Subjects or parents must sign informed consent and/or assent for the study
- Subjects or parents must authorize release of protected health information
- Children must be under 18 years old at enrollment
- Children must meet criteria for acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) or chronic pancreatitis (CP)
- Acute pancreatitis requires at least 2 of: abdominal pain compatible with AP, elevated amylase/lipase >=3 times normal, or imaging showing AP
- ARP is defined as 2 or more episodes of acute pancreatitis with complete pain resolution and at least 1 month pain-free interval
- Chronic pancreatitis requires at least one irreversible structural pancreatic change with or without symptoms or pancreatic insufficiency
- Structural changes include ductal stones, dilated side branches, calcifications, persistent duct obstruction or strictures on imaging, or pancreatic biopsy showing CP features
You will not qualify if you...
- Subjects with significant medical illnesses that cannot be adequately controlled or would prevent safe participation
