BrainAgeMS - a Comparative Study of Brain Aging in Healthy and Patients With Multiple Sclerosis
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Signed informed consent
- Healthy individuals aged 18 to 65 years
- Individuals diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis aged 18 to 65 years with EDSS score 6.0 or less
You will not qualify if you...
- Any neurological disease other than primary headaches
- Insufficient German or French language skills
- Pregnancy or lactation
- Contraindications for MRI such as active or certain passive implants, large tattoos in MRI areas, claustrophobia, or non-compliance
- Smoking within the last 10 years
- Use of drugs other than moderate alcohol intake or medical cannabis
- Previous head trauma with known or suspected brain consequences
- Body Mass Index greater than 30
- Other chronic progressive diseases
- For healthy group: biological age differing by more than -8/+1 years from chronological age
- For MS group: EDSS score greater than 6.0
- For MS group: clinical relapse within the last 6 months
