These assessments include self-report questionnaires, daily life surveys, computer tasks, and measures of brain and body activity such as EEG. Researchers will measure changes in emotion regulation, attention control, motivation, mood, anxiety, rumination, self-criticism, and life satisfaction. The study is sponsored by Teachers College, Columbia University and runs until December 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Between the ages of 18 and 65
  • Fluent in English and able to provide consent
  • Currently living in New York City
  • Access to a smartphone and the internet
  • High self-reported worry, rumination, and/or self-criticism
  • Meet DSM-5 criteria for at least one current psychological disorder
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Active suicidal ideation or intent
  • Substance dependence disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar-I disorder, or primary DSM-5 diagnosis of borderline or narcissistic personality disorder
  • Currently receiving therapy or psychosocial treatment without plans to continue the same treatment throughout the study
  • Taking psychotropic medication not stabilized for at least 3 months
  • Current student at Teachers College, Columbia University
  • Cardiac conditions, diagnosed hyperhidrosis, traumatic brain injuries, or other neurological conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's, or epilepsy

Outpatient Treatment

Duration - 6 weeks
