What this Trial Is About

Cocaine use causes euphoria, increased confidence, and reduced fatigue but can lead to severe addiction with social and health problems. There is currently no approved medication for treating cocaine addiction, and the main approach involves supervised withdrawal and support. This trial explores whether using light therapy during inpatient cocaine detoxification can improve patients comfort and help regulate disrupted sleep and daily rhythms caused by withdrawal. Participants will receive either cyan light therapy or a sham light therapy using a medical device called DAYVIA SUNACTIV 2ae glasses during a 10- to 17-day hospital stay for cocaine detoxification. The active therapy emits safe cyan light designed to stimulate cells in the retina that mimic daylight, while the sham device emits dim yellow light without these effects. After hospital discharge, light therapy stops, but clinical and lab data will continue to be collected for one month. Throughout the study, participants will be assessed before hospitalization and during detoxification, with follow-up data collected for one month after discharge. Researchers will monitor cocaine use by measuring the percentage of cocaine-free days, time until first relapse, and the proportion of patients maintaining continuous abstinence over the follow-up period. This helps evaluate whether light therapy can positively influence recovery and reduce relapse rates after detoxification.
