Study of Bronchial Dilation in Polynesian Patients Using Retrospective Data from French Polynesia

Researchers are investigating the occurrence of idiopathic bronchi dilation among Polynesian patients, focusing on cases in French Polynesia and exploring possible genetic factors. This observational study aims to better understand the detailed characteristics of bronchi dilation in this population and to find indirect evidence supporting a genetic cause. The study will collect retrospective data from patients with bronchial dilation who were followed at the Centre Hospitalier de Polynesie Francaise between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2020, or who no longer consult at the hospital during this period. Information gathered will include patients personal and family medical history, microbiological results, scan images, and recent cardio-respiratory evaluations. Participants data will be reviewed to describe their bronchi dilation phenotype and to investigate the genetic links to the condition. The research team will analyze historical medical records and test results without active intervention. The main outcome measured is a detailed description of the bronchi dilation features in the Polynesian population, with secondary outcomes focusing on evidence suggesting a genetic cause. The study is expected to complete by June 2027.
