Researchers are evaluating the effects of a cardiac rehabilitation program with and without progressive resisted exercises, specifically the Delorme technique, in patients aged 70 to 80 years who have undergone a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) at least 8 weeks prior. The study aims to assess improvements in dyspnea and quality of life for patients after the acute stage of PCI. This randomized clinical trial uses convenient sampling and compares two groups to understand the added impact of progressive resistance exercises during cardiac rehab. One group will receive the Delorme technique combined with standard cardiac rehabilitation, involving aerobic and resistance exercises performed three times a week. The resistance training includes seven exercises done in 3 sets of 10 repetitions at increasing intensities. The control group will undergo standard outpatient cardiac rehabilitation, which includes walking, cycling, strength training, and warm-up and cool-down sessions, but without the Delorme technique. The study treatments are delivered over eight weeks. Participants will be evaluated using tools such as the 6-minute walk test, Rose Angina or Settle Angina questionnaires, a quality of life scale, and the Modified Borg dyspnea scale. Assessments occur at baseline and after four weeks to measure changes in symptoms and quality of life. Data will be collected and analyzed with statistical software to compare outcomes between the two groups. The total participation spans at least four weeks of outcome measurement, with follow-up during the rehabilitation period.
