This research aims to understand how Pulmonary Endarterectomy (PEA) affects patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) in terms of their confidence managing their condition. The study focuses on three areas of self-efficacy: communication with doctors, managing chronic disease tasks, and controlling symptoms and daily functioning. Researchers want to see how improvements in these areas relate to physical abilities like walking longer distances, measured by the 6-minute walk test. Participants in this observational study are patients diagnosed with CTEPH who are scheduled for surgical PEA. There is no experimental treatment or placebo; instead, researchers observe changes before and after surgery. Self-efficacy will be assessed before the operation and again six months later using several questionnaires designed to measure confidence in managing health and interacting with healthcare providers. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires such as the 10-item Perceived Efficacy in Patient-Physician Interaction Scale, the 6-item Self-Efficacy for Managing Chronic Diseases Scale, and Sullivan's cardiac self-efficacy 13-item scale. Their physical ability will be tested using the 6-minute walk test at the same time points. The study will analyze how psychological changes after surgery relate to physical improvements, aiming to identify patients who may need extra psychological or rehabilitation support for better recovery.
