What this Trial Is About

Strokes are a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, especially impacting developed countries with significant social and economic effects. This research aims to better understand the neuromuscular deficits caused by stroke to improve future rehabilitation methods. The study focuses on patients who have experienced a stroke within the last five years and continue to have difficulties with one side of their body. Participants will undergo assessments of their neuromuscular function, including tests of muscle strength and activation using specialized electromyography techniques. The study involves a single testing session where motor control, balance, and muscle function of both upper and lower limbs will be evaluated. These assessments aim to provide detailed information about muscle activation patterns and physical abilities post-stroke. During their participation, individuals will complete various motor control tasks, balance tests, and dexterity assessments such as the Grooved Pegboard Test and Trail Making Test. Researchers will measure muscle strength and coordination using isometric dynamometry and electromyography. The data collected will help inform the development of tailored rehabilitation interventions to support stroke recovery. Participation involves one baseline testing session, and safety and functional outcomes will be closely monitored.
