Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Capacity to provide informed consent
- Adult aged 18-65 years
- Interaction with suspected infected animals within the last 2 years, including hunting, slaughtering, consuming, fruit collection, date palm sap harvesting, tree pruning near bat roosts, bat guano farming, work in live animal markets or wild animal habitats, or living within 5 km of such habitats
- Willingness to allow biological samples and data to be stored for future research
You will not qualify if you...
- Pregnancy (self-reported)
- Any chronic or current medical condition that might interfere with participation, such as difficulty in drawing blood or known anemia
- Symptoms suggestive of acute infection within 7 days before enrollment (e.g., muscle pain, joint pain, headache, retro-orbital pain, difficulty breathing, rash)
- Signs of acute infection at screening, including fever over 38°C, low oxygen saturation below 90%, or low blood pressure
- Self-reported immune deficiency, including HIV infection, chronic corticosteroid use equivalent to 10 mg prednisone or more for at least 30 days in the past year, recent or past chemotherapy or immunotherapy within 10 years, or current blood cancers
- Receipt of blood products, including immunoglobulin, within 120 days before enrollment
