Characterization of the Strasbourg Cohort of Patients With Adrenal Cortex Carcinoma

Adrenal cortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare tumor affecting the adrenal cortex, with an estimated occurrence of 0.5 to 2 cases per million people each year. It tends to appear mainly in two age groups: children under 10 years and adults between 40 and 50 years old, with a slight predominance in females. Most cases are sporadic, especially in adults, and diagnosis relies on imaging and clinical signs, but is confirmed by tissue analysis, which also helps determine how aggressive the tumor is. This observational study aims to characterize patients with ACC treated at Strasbourg University Hospital by examining clinical, biological, imaging, and histological features. The study includes adults diagnosed with ACC from 2000 to 2025 and will track their survival outcomes, including overall, specific, and progression-free survival, up to 12 months. No experimental treatments are given; instead, the study observes patient outcomes based on their existing clinical management. Participants will be followed to collect data on their disease progression and survival. Researchers will review medical records and pathological results to better understand the natural history of ACC and improve future patient care. The study is led by the University Hospital, Strasbourg, France, and enrollment starts in June 2025, with follow-up continuing until June 2027.
