What this Trial Is About

Researchers are establishing a nationwide prospective database of diabetes patients treated at National Metabolic Management Centers (MMCs) across China. The study aims to explore epidemiology, genetics, biomarkers, risk factors, and prognostic methods related to diabetes and its complications, as well as other metabolic diseases. It also evaluates current care status, treatment strategies, patient costs, and quality of life to support the Healthy China 2030 strategy. Participants receive standard diabetes management at MMCs, which integrate advanced medical equipment and Internet of Things technology to provide a standardized, convenient, and precise model of care. After a comprehensive baseline evaluation, patients are followed with clinical and laboratory visits every 3 to 6 months based on individualized treatment plans, with yearly comprehensive assessments for glycemic control, risk factors, safety, and diabetes complications. During the study, participants undergo regular clinical and laboratory evaluations including monitoring of blood glucose, blood pressure, lipids, body mass index, and visceral fat. Researchers also assess health-related quality of life, cognitive function, psychological well-being, and cost-effectiveness. The study tracks diabetes-related clinical endpoints such as macrovascular and microvascular morbidity, mortality, infections, heart failure, neuropathy, and cancers, with follow-up lasting up to 20 years.
