Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults 18 years of age or older of South Asian or European origin as defined by self-identification
- Willing and able to provide written informed consent and comply with study requirements
- Must not meet any exclusion criteria
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous diagnosis of type 2 diabetes
- History of cardiovascular events including myocardial infarction, coronary revascularization, coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, or cerebrovascular disease
- Life-threatening disease expected to cause death within 2 years
- Active malignancy not considered cured (except basal cell carcinoma of the skin)
- Severe liver disease such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic liver disease, or liver cirrhosis
- White blood cell count greater than or equal to 15 x 10^9/L
- Active infectious disease requiring antibiotic or antiviral treatment
- Known acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (e.g., HIV)
- Use of oral steroid therapy or other immunosuppressive agents
- Treated autoimmune disorder
