The goal of this study is to understand if SLT performed at low energy is as effective as SLT performed at standard energy, and also to see if repeating SLT at low energy once a year will prevent or delay the need for daily eye drop medications better than waiting for SLT to wear off before repeating it.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 or older and in good health
- Each eye must have one of these diagnoses: high-risk ocular hypertension with IOP over 21 mmHg and no optic nerve damage, mild primary open-angle glaucoma with specific visual field criteria, or moderate primary open-angle glaucoma with defined visual field changes
- Each eye must have best corrected visual acuity of 20/200 (UK 6/60) or better
You will not qualify if you...
- Use of topical IOP-lowering medications for more than 6 cumulative months in the past 5 years
- History of any IOP-lowering laser or surgical procedure (excluding prophylactic iridotomy)
- Advanced primary open-angle glaucoma in either eye
- Glaucoma types other than primary open-angle glaucoma, including pigmentary and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma
- Mean intraocular pressure greater than 35 mmHg at screening or baseline in either eye
- Narrow or closed angle in either eye (Shaffer Grade 0, 1, or 2)
- Contraindications to SLT or any study intervention
- Corneal conditions preventing accurate eye pressure measurement by Goldmann tonometry
- Intraocular surgery within the past 6 months in either eye
- Inability to attend all study visits
- Pregnancy or plans to become pregnant within the next 4 years
