Randomized, Triple-Blind Cross-Over Study to Evaluate Two Investigational Potassium Drinks Versus Control Beverages for Post-Exercise Hydration in Healthy Adults

Researchers are evaluating two investigational drinks to see how they affect hydration after exercise in healthy adults who are recreationally active. The study aims to find out if these drinks, compared to control beverages, cause differences in blood hematocrit and serum osmolality at 0.5, 2, 4, and 8 hours after exercise. This is a randomized, triple-blind crossover trial sponsored by Chobani, focusing on post-exercise hydration support. Participants will consume one of four beveragestwo investigational potassium drinks Potassium15 and Potassium10, plain water, or a marketed sports beverage Gatorade Fruit Punchimmediately after exercise. Each drink is consumed in a 591 mL bottle within 10 minutes under clinic supervision. The crossover design means participants will try each beverage in separate visits, allowing comparison of their hydration effects. During the study, participants will complete an exercise challenge and record their food and beverage intake. Researchers will monitor changes in blood hematocrit, serum osmolality, and other hydration-related measures like urine volume, sodium, potassium, and body water at multiple times post-exercise. Questionnaires and diaries will track adherence and lifestyle. The study runs from May 2026 to August 2026, with healthy adults aged 18 to 65 years eligible to participate.
