What this Trial Is About

This pilot study aims at establishing personalized state-based rTMS for precision neurorehabilitation, we designed a within-subject cross-over study to test closed-loop repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and electroencephalography (rTMS-EEG) comparing the targeting of two key nodes in the frontoparietal network during bimanual visuomotor force tracking in persons with upper extremity sensorimotor impairment affecting eye-hand control.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Adult volunteers aged 18 years or older
  • Right-hand dominant (defined by Edinburg Handedness Scale)
  • Voluntary whole-hand grip force at Medical Research Council scale level 2 or above
  • Able to perform repeated grasp and release at 5% of maximum voluntary contraction using a digital dynamometer
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Any MRI risk factors such as metal or electronic implants, pacemakers, or claustrophobia
  • Contraindications to rTMS including history of seizures or epileptic activity, or medications lowering seizure threshold
  • Neurological or psychiatric disorders affecting cognition or ability to consent
  • Substance use disorder
  • Visual impairments preventing completion of scanner tasks
  • Uncontrolled hypertension despite treatment
  • Use of tricyclic antidepressants
  • Musculoskeletal disorders affecting bimanual grasp and release
  • Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy
  • Severe aphasia affecting understanding and consent
