What this Trial Is About
As people age, they often experience reduced physical stamina and memory functions, which can make recovering from daily physical and mental fatigue more difficult. This challenge affects their independence and overall quality of life. Researchers are investigating how levels of cognitive reserve, which is the brains resilience built through life experiences like education and social activities, influence older adults recovery from normal fatigue. Although cognitive reserve is known to protect against conditions like dementia, its role in everyday fatigue recovery is less understood. This observational study focuses on individuals aged 65 to 90, examining how their cognitive reserve levels affect their ability to cope with fatigue, need for rest, return to daily activities, and perception of recovery. Participants will be evaluated to measure their baseline cognitive reserve and how they perceive recovery from mental and physical fatigue. The study does not involve any treatments but observes these relationships to fill gaps in current knowledge. Participants will undergo assessments to determine their cognitive reserve level and complete questionnaires about their experiences with fatigue and recovery. Researchers will analyze these responses to understand how cognitive reserve influences coping and recovery. This information aims to help healthcare providers develop better, personalized rehabilitation and lifestyle support programs to improve the quality of life for older adults. The study is expected to complete by September 2026.
