Comparison of 3-Dimensional Articular and Soft Tissue Myofascial Release Treatments for Adults with Wrist Overuse Syndrome

Wrist joint overuse syndrome is a challenging musculoskeletal condition affecting bones, muscles, tendons, peripheral nerves, and blood vessels, commonly involving the back, neck, and upper limbs. This research evaluates and compares two approaches of myofascial release therapy3-dimensional articular and soft tissue methodsin adults aged 20 to 55 diagnosed with this syndrome. The diagnosis is based on tenderness in intrinsic wrist muscles and pain in the radial ligament. Participants are randomly divided into two groups of 23 each. Both groups receive a 15-minute hot pack as baseline treatment. Group A undergoes 3-dimensional articular fascial release, while Group B receives 3-dimensional soft tissue release. Treatments occur three times per week for three weeks. After therapy sessions, both groups perform wrist range of motion exercises including wrist flexion, extension, and radial and ulnar deviation, with five repetitions each. Participants will be assessed using pain scales like the Numeric Pain Rating Scale NPRS, functional disability evaluations such as the Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder, and Hand DASH, and the Patient Rated Wrist Evaluation PRWE specific to wrist function. Range of motion is measured with a goniometer. Data analysis will be conducted with SPSS software. The primary outcomes measured are pain intensity and range of motion over three weeks, with functional disability as a secondary outcome.
